How About Your Summer?

Crazy.
We have been CRAZY this summer.

Sometimes I get so overwhelmed just thinking about the fact that we have spent the last 2 months touching base at home for no more than 2 weeks before we leave again to go somewhere else.

It has been a total whirlwind.

A good whirlwind. (Is there such a thing?)

If you haven't gotten a chance to see this...here is just a highlight (a 14 minute highlight that is worthy of a bucket of popcorn and maybe a refreshing beverage) of one of the biggest things that we have spent our time working on and gearing up for this year apart from our adoption.

In hindsight...

Totally worth it.

Biometrics, Baby!!

What are we going to be doing the day after we get home from CHIC?
Oh...
That's right...

Getting our biometric fingerprints done!! HOLLA!!!

Just got our appointments in the mail today!

Honest moment...I have no idea what biometric fingerprints really mean. Every time I say it, I think I'm going to come out looking like Ironman.
I'm totally cool with that.

But seriously...God is so good!!

Thank you for all of your prayers!

And who knows, if this whole Ironman thing pans out...this blog could get a whole lot more interesting.

Growing in Our Hearts

It has been a long road. Yes.
And we still have WAY longer to go.

A good friend of mine, who has been through this process a couple of times, told me that it is important to celebrate each milestone in the adoption journey with something, such as a baby gift or a Starbucks. You know...to keep you sane.

And believe me, I have helped myself to enough Starbucks, thank you.

But while Erik and I were out today, we realized that we have never bought anything for our child. I think most of the time it feels like it is so far away that it is almost premature to buy something for someone who probably isn't even born yet.

But it is important. It is important for us. For our child. And for our sanity.

There are a lot of things that can discourage you in this process and it is really easy to lose sight of the fact that at the end of all of it, there is a child. Our child.

So today while making a quick trip to the Vintage Market in Turlock, we stumbled across this...

And this became not just a blanket, but a celebration of our child. Our child who is not yet known...but who is growing in our hearts.

Remember (Thoughts from a Dad-To-Be)

As we wait for our lengthy US immigration process to finish, our “parent hearts” are achingly growing every second of each day. Our hope finds its fuel, comfort, and patience by remembering and being amazed by how God’s love has pursued Jessa and I. Every time I think about it I am overwhelmingly speechless. His love never grew tired, went to extremes, brought hope, didn’t flinch, and extended us an invitation to courageously go “all in” on this journey to adopt our child. So as our family story waits for the next chapter to be written (and I count the seconds to be called Dad for the first time), we stand with the God who audaciously loves us for who we are.

We are Erik and Jessa Anderson.

Good News Bad News

Good News:
We got our appointments for our ASC Fingerprints from US Immigration! One more step in the adoption process!

Bad News:
We will be in Tennessee at CHIC with 50 of our High School Students on the date that we are scheduled to be fingerprinted.

Boooooo.

Ok...well..."Booooo" to bad timing...not to CHIC.

So, we are asking for all those prayers you have faithfully been sending our way to be directed toward our Rescheduling Request! We have a 2 week window of time from when we get back in town from CHIC to when we are leaving again to head back east to visit Erik's family!

Dang it, you busy life.
